Today, I talk about creation joy in our homes and with our home creation. What does it actually mean to experience joy in our homes and live, what’s the difference between joy and happiness, and how sometimes we do not allow ourselves to experience joy or do the things that would make us happier.
In this episode, I will share some practical ways to create joy and pursue happiness in our lives, homes and home creation. n, how it differs from satisfaction and happiness, and what leads to fulfillment in our homes and lives.
Here’s a recap:
When it comes to our own joy and happiness, many of us are familiar with the pattern of taking two steps forward, one step back. The most common regrets people have at the end of their lives is that they wish they’d let themselves be happier.
We can start creating joy in our homes and pursue happiness when we:
Don’t go at it alone. Reach out to others. Share the journey and connect with others.
Create a joy list, which is like crafting a personal happiness roadmap. Identifying moments, people, and activities that light us up and intentionally create space for them in our life.
Dedicate ourselves to others. Activities such as volunteering produce greater joy than focusing on oneself. Giving a little goes a long way, not just for those on the receiving end but for our own well-being too.
Be KIND. Being kinder isn't just about outward gestures to others; it's also about extending that same compassion and generosity to ourselves.
Add some color to your home—and the world. Injecting color into your living space can significantly impact your mood. Start with small pops of colour.
Get moving with regular physical activity. Exercise not only enhances physical fitness but also has profound effects on mental well-being.
Savor joyful moments. Embracing moments of joy, both big and small can significantly impact our overall happiness.
Get houseplants. The popularity of houseplants isn't just a trend; it's backed by science.
Go outside. Venturing outdoors is a prescription for better health and happiness.
Be grateful. Gratitude is a proven pathway to happiness.
Pay attention to the good and limit negativity. Skip negative news first thing in the morning.
If you have the means, invest in time-saving services. Money can’t buy happiness, but that can depend on how you spend it.
Then, use those extra few minutes clearing your mind. Meditation is a great way to cultivate more joy and happiness.
Don't dismiss bad feelings. Suppressing or denying negative emotions not only lowers your sense of contentment but also puts a lot of stress on your body.
